We Brits try not to let the rain stop us! Hurst Green Fete went indoors today! It was great to talk to Councillors (thanks Mary, Eleanor and Andrew) and residents about their priorities for the village-as well as enjoying some great tea and cake!
One of the social issues that drew me to politics was loneliness and social isolation-as a doctor seeing older patients in hospital and the impact it had on them. Hurst Green Breakfast Club is a fantastic way of tackling this-it was great to hear about it from volunteers Elaine & Annabelle that are part of the team that run it.
Residents were pretty clear on their priorities for example tackling speeding on the A21 (potentially with average speed cameras), fighting against speculative development as is happening in Hawkhurst and a resolution to the car parking situation in the village.
